07/Security

How BANJEE protects your account.

The safeguards in place today, in plain terms.

Account access

  • PINs you can't read back

Your PIN is stored only as a one-way hash, and easy PINs like 1234 are refused.

  • Guessing is shut down

After repeated wrong PINs, the account locks for a while.

  • Sessions you control

Log out of every device at once. Changing your PIN ends every session.

Transactions

  • Names before money moves

You see the account holder, meter or smartcard name before you confirm.

  • Held until the bank confirms

Transfer money is held, not spent. If the transfer fails, it returns to your balance.

Information and activity

  • Balances out of sight

Hide balances with one tap when someone can see your screen.

  • Nothing happens off the record

Every transaction shows in Activity with its status and reference, so you can spot one you don't recognise.

Lost your phone, or think someone knows your PIN?

  1. On another device, log in and choose Account → Log out of all devices.
  2. Reset your PIN through the BANJEE WhatsApp chat.
  3. Tell support what happened so we can review your recent activity.

What is BANJEE?

A way to hold Naira and USDC, send money and pay bills — airtime, data, TV subscriptions, electricity and betting top-ups — through a WhatsApp chat, or in the BANJEE Wallets web app. Both use the same account.

How does the wallet work?

You have a Naira balance and a USDC wallet. The web app shows both, the details you need to add money, and every transaction, whether you made it here or in the chat.

Can I hold Naira?

Yes. You get your own account number. Money sent to it from any Nigerian bank is added to your Naira balance, and you can send it to any Nigerian bank account.

Can I hold USDC?

Yes, on the Stellar and Celo networks. The app shows your address and QR code for each network, and you can sell USDC for Naira at the rate shown before you confirm. Buying USDC is coming soon.

How does WhatsApp work with BANJEE?

It's the same account. Send, sell and pay bills in the chat or in the web app — both confirm with your PIN, and everything shows in Activity either way.

Can I pay bills?

Yes. Buy airtime and data for MTN, Airtel, Glo and 9mobile, renew DStv, GOtv, StarTimes and Showmax, buy prepaid electricity tokens or pay postpaid bills, and fund betting wallets. Pay in the web app or in WhatsApp, from your USDC balance. We show the name on the meter, smartcard or betting account before you confirm.

How do I get into my wallet?

Log in at this site with the phone number and PIN you use with BANJEE. You can also add it to your phone's home screen so it opens like an app.

What happens when a transaction is pending?

It shows as processing in Activity until it completes. For a bank transfer, the money is held while the bank confirms; if the transfer fails, it's returned to your balance.

Is BANJEE a bank?

No. BANJEE is not a bank, and USDC balances aren't covered by deposit insurance. The Risk Disclosure explains what that means.

How do I contact support?

Chat with BANJEE support on WhatsApp or email us. Quote the reference from Activity if your question is about a transaction.
